چکیده

We introduce a model to study the collisions of two ultracold diatomic molecules in one dimension interacting via pairwise potentials. present results for this system and argue that it offers lessons real molecular three dimensions. analyze distribution adiabatic potentials hyperspherical coordinate representation as well near-threshold four-body bound states, systematically studying effects properties, such interaction strength, range, atomic mass. For four-atom case where all atoms have equal masses shows Poissonian spacing distribution, while unequal-mass exhibits characterized by nonzero Brody parameter. derive semiclassical formula density states extract simple scaling laws with potential depth range. find good agreement between predictions full quantum mechanical calculations.

Ultracold collisions of oxygen molecules

Collision cross sections and rate constants between two ground-state oxygen molecules are investigated theoretically at translational energies below ;1 K and in zero magnetic field. We present calculations for elastic and spin-changing inelastic collision rates for different isotopic combinations of oxygen atoms as a prelude to understanding their collisional stability in ultracold magnetic tra...

Inelastic collisions of ultracold polar molecules

The collisional stability of ultracold polar molecules in electrostatic traps is considered. Rate constants for collisions that drive molecules from weak-electric-field-seeking to strong-field-seeking states are estimated using a simple model that emphasizes long-range dipolar forces. The rate constants for collisional losses are found to vary substantially as a function of molecular parameters...

Deviation from universality in collisions of ultracold 6Li2 molecules.

Collisions of 6Li2 molecules with free 6Li atoms reveal a striking deviation from universal predictions based on long-range van der Waals interactions. Li2 closed-channel molecules are formed in the highest vibrational state near a narrow Feshbach resonance and decay via two-body collisions with Li2, Li, and Na. For Li2 + Li2 and Li2 + Na, the decay rates agree with the universal predictions of...

Inelastic collisions of ultracold heteronuclear molecules in an optical trap.

Ultracold RbCs molecules in high-lying vibrational levels of the a3Sigma+ ground electronic state are confined in an optical trap. Inelastic collision rates of these molecules with both Rb and Cs atoms are determined for individual vibrational levels, across an order of magnitude of binding energies. The long-range dispersion coefficients for the collision process are calculated and used in a m...

Universal rate constants for reactive collisions of ultracold molecules.

A simple quantum-defect model gives analytic expressions for the complex scattering length and threshold collision rates of ultracold molecules. If the probability of reaction in the short-range part of the collision is high, the model gives universal rate constants for s- and p-wave collisions that are independent of short-range dynamics. This model explains the magnitudes of the recently meas...
